The Birthright Israel Foundation (BRIF) leadership views the appointment of its next Chief Development Officer (CDO) as a unique and compelling opportunity to play a leadership role in resource development for what many view as the most successful engagement program in Jewish life and Israel; a prime opportunity to be a principal architect of the development program, which supports the organization’s mission and programs, building on existing advancement efforts and aggressively pursuing new opportunities for funding and engagement.

With a current national campaign raising $80-90M annually from over 30,000 donors, BRIF’s base of support has grown significantly in recent years. Donors come from all across the country and from each facet and dimension of contemporary Jewish life - Birthright Israel alumni, their parents, JFNA, Federations, Foundations as well as individuals who support the mission. Broadening this base of support is essential to BRIF’s continuous growth strategy and a key indicator of success.

The Birthright Israel Foundation is at an exciting transformational moment under new leadership, challenged to create a fundraising strategy and operation that will provide increasing annual revenue and a depth of support, ensuring that Birthright Israel’s programs will be supported and sustained for future generations. The Foundation’s leadership is deeply committed to its fundraising success and several board task forces have begun to consider new strategies and opportunities for growth.

Birthright Israel currently sends 45,000 young Jewish adults each year on this educational trip and is focused on enhancing and meaningfully growing the program. If this number can be sustained over a decade, the program will reach more than half the emerging Jewish adult population, affecting lasting change for the future of the Jewish people.

What began as a “start-up” idea has developed into an international movement with the capacity to shape Jewish life and Jewish communities for years to come.
