The New York Center for Living is a fully licensed family based substance abuse center serving the unique developmental, social, and psychological needs of adolescents and young adults with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Founded in 2009, the New York Center for Living is a private pay and out-of-network, non-profit, outpatient treatment center committed to serving adolescents, young adults and families. The Center is guided by a 12-step, abstinence-based philosophy that integrates conventional and complementary therapeutic services, with an experienced collegial, multidisciplinary clinical team that offers comprehensive and individualized care.
The Center’s treatment philosophy is based upon the following principles:
While substance use in youth exists on a spectrum, addiction is a disease that is often recognized in adolescence. The earlier a family can intervene on problematic substance use, the more likely it is that the young person will be able to develop a substance free and healthy lifestyle.
Co-occurring disorders are common when working with adolescence and young adults with substance abuse problems. Successful treatment requires actively addressing both problems.
The Center utilizes evidence-based interventions to address co-occurring disorders when clinically appropriate.
Families are integral to successful treatment outcomes.
The goal of adolescence and young adulthood is to foster the development of productive life skills, social experiences, educational and vocational proficiency and to reach their potential. Substance abuse curtails this process. The goal is help clients return as safely and swiftly back on their developmental trajectory
The New York Center for Living is licensed and accredited through the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services, (OASAS) and has a medically supervised outpatient treatment facility for adolescents, young adults and families
The Center offers enhanced opportunities for a life of fellowship in recovery by providing alumni support services and ongoing activities for individuals and their families
